Peter Daniš
Peter Daniš is a contemporary painter from Slovakia whose work explores light, atmosphere, and the perception of landscape. His paintings move between atmospheric landscapes, aerial views, nightscapes, and luminous abstractions, often reducing the landscape to horizons, layers of light, mist, and distant forms.
Working primarily in oil and acrylic, Daniš transforms landscape through light, dissolving its physical boundaries into luminous, airy spaces. A sense of ephemerality runs throughout his work — capturing transient moments when light and atmosphere transform the perception of landscape. Often working on a large scale, he combines this expansive sense of space with a delicate, almost weightless quality.
Over time, his work has developed from urban nightscapes towards increasingly minimal Lightscapes and Atmospheric Landscapes. Rather than depicting specific locations, these paintings become interpretations of landscape shaped by light — spaces that invite the viewer to slow down, immerse themselves, and contemplate a transient moment.
Daniš has exhibited in Slovakia and internationally. In 2024, he was selected as a finalist of the BBA Artist Prize and presented his work at Kühlhaus Berlin.
